Three guest clarinet soloists will join the SRJO in a tribute to the great Benny Goodman, featuring several of the greatest from the Goodman Orchestra ("Let's Dance," "King Porter Stomp," and more), plus Oliver Nelson's "Ballad for Benny" and the brilliant "Ebony Concerto" for clarinet and jazz band written by Igor Stravinsky and first recorded by Goodman.

A reprise performance of the SRJO's well-received concert for the SAM "Art of Jazz" series, featuring an all-star dectet of players
from the SRJO, performing pieces by Seattle composer Bob Hammer, by nationally acclaimed Marty Paich and Gerry Mulligan, by
SRJO co-director Michael Brockman, and others.
Series Concert 4
"Jazz of the Harlem Renaissance"
- featuring the Paintings of Jacob Lawrence
The SRJO collaborates with the Seattle Art Museum to treat audiences to a selection of images from significant paintings by Jacob
Lawrence, and his unique views of the Harlem Renaissance period (ca. 1920-35), interspersed with the SRJO performing classic jazz
pieces from the same period by jazz composers Fletcher Henderson, Jimmie Lunceford, Duke Ellington and others.As a special highlight,
guest soloists from award-winning high school jazz programs in the Seattle area will be featured.
Tickets for all other SRJO concerts not listed above are sold by
the individual venues or organizations sponsoring each event.
